ذكرت شركة ابل خلال يوم الثلاثاء أنها ستقوم بمساعدة سلطات الصحة العامة وذلك من خلال نشر معلومات يمكن أن تساعد السلطات في معرفة إذا ما كان الناس يتحركون بواسطة مركباتهم بدرجة أقل خلال أوامر الحظر أم لا، وتقوم شركة Apple بهذه المساعدات لإبطاء انتشار فيروس كورونا COVID-19، كما أوضحت شركة ابل أن البيانات التي تحصل عليها جمعت عن طريق طلبات المستخدمين للمسارات من خرائط Apple المتواجدة على جميع هواتف شركة ابل حيث تقوم الشركة بمقارنة الاستخدام الحالي مع الاستخدام السابق لكل مستخدم، كما تحصل أيضًا على بيانات تتعلق بعدد الأشخاص الذين يستعملون سياراتهم والآخرون السائرون على الأقدام.

كما ذكرت شركة Apple أن المعلومات تحدث بشكل يكاد يكون يومي وهي مستمرة على نفس المنوال منذ منتصف شهر يناير لعامنا الحالي أي قبل إطلاق معظم إجراءات الحظر التي فرضتها الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، حيث يخضع حتى يومنا الحالي أكثر من 90% من المواطنين الأمريكيين لأوامر البقاء فالمنزل، كما يتم إتخاذ قرارات مشابهة أيضًا في مختلف بلدان العالم، أظهرت البيانات أنه في الأيام القليلة الماضية وبالتحديد في خليج سان فرانسيسكو انخفضت طلبات الاتجاهات على خرائط ابل بنسبة 70% مقارنة بشهر يناير كما انخفضت طلبات اتجاهات الخرائط للنقل بنسبة 84%.

وكما ذكرت شركة ابل أن في مدينة نيويورك انخفضت الطلبات للقيادة بصورة كبيرة بنسبة 69% مع الوضع في الحسبان أن نيويورك العاصمة للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وبها أكبر عدد للسكان مقارنًة بالولايات الأخرى، كما انخفضت طلبات النقل بصورة عامة بنسبة 89%.
